If someone doesn’t have a strong connection with their body, they are not going to be in touch with a big part of them. It is this part of them that a number of their needs and feelings will be found.
Taking this into account, not having a strong connection with this part of them is going to undermine them. This is because they will be out of touch with the guidance that is inside them and they are not going to be able to meet a number of their needs. Unaware Nonetheless, if this is how they have been for a very long time, they might not be aware of it. This is likely to mean that they will be overly reliant on their mind for guidance and they might look up to certain people, seeing them as having all of the answers. As they are out of touch with a number of their needs, this can mean that they will often feel drained and have moments when they are exhausted. But, instead of being able to join the dots, so to speak, and seeing that they are neglecting themselves, it could be put down to what is going on externally. An Isolated Existence When they are not working, they might typically have no interest in reaching out to others and prefer to be by themselves. This can be a time when they will read or watch a film/series, for instance. What this is likely to show is that their need to connect to another or others is outside of their conscious awareness. There is even the chance that they are generally out of touch with this need. An Analogy One way of looking at how they experience life would be to say that they have two rooms. One room is where their thoughts and ideas will be found, among other things, and another is where a number of their needs and feelings will be found. They will spend most of their life in the first room and very little if any of their life in the second room. For them to be a whole human being and to have access to all of themselves, they will need to remove the wall that divides the rooms so that they can embrace both rooms. A Flat Existence Not having a strong connection with their body, (the other room) is likely to mean that they will often be depressed. In fact, they could have whole days when they are deeply depressed and are unable to do a great deal. If so, it could be hard for them to get out of bed, function at work, eat and do anything when they get home. It is then going to be normal for them to struggle to have enough energy. Racing Around When they are not depressed, they could have a lot going on up top and find it hard to fall asleep at night. Therefore, although they might not feel the need to do much with their life, there will often be no shortage of movement in their mind. If they read a lot of books and know a lot about one or a number of topics, they could be seen as being quite intellectual. In this case, this part of them is going to be very well developed. Rock Bottom Yet, as intelligent as they may appear to be, their intelligence is not going to allow them to lead a fulfilling life. They are going to be estranged from a big part of themselves and overlook a number of their needs, such as the need for human contact, which will deprive them of what they need to be able to thrive. So, as developed as their intellect may be, they are still going to be a watered-down version of themselves. If they were able to step back and reflect on how they experience life, they might struggle to understand why they are this way. A Deeper Look What they might see is that they have been this way for as long as they can remember and it might then seem as if they were just born this way. Unless something took place whilst they were in their mother’s womb that caused them to disconnect from themselves, this won’t be the reason. They could be like this due to what took place during their developmental years. Throughout this stage of their life, they might have often been physically and verbally harmed and/or neglected. The Fall Out As they were powerless and totally dependent, they wouldn’t have been able to stop what was going on or find another family that could love them. Ergo, to handle the pain that they experienced, they would have ended up leaving their body and living in their head. This wouldn’t have stopped what was going on and it would have resulted in them being estranged from themselves, but, it would have allowed them to handle a brutal period of their life and kept them alive. Furthermore, they wouldn’t have had a great deal of freedom to express themselves in their environment but they would have had the freedom to express themselves in their mind. A Natural Outcome If they have a rich imagination, it might be clear for them to see why this is; it will have probably been something that was developed to protect them from the pain they were in. This might also be the reason why they have a well-developed intellect, that’s if they do – as this would have served as a defence. Being ths way will have served them when they were a child but now that they are an adult, it will make their life harder than it needs to be. For them to reconnect to themselves and become a truly intelligent person, they will most likely need to face the pain and express the unmet developmental needs that are inside them. Awareness If someone can relate to this and they are ready to change their life, they may need to reach out for external support. This is something that can be provided with the assistance of a therapist or healer.
