Critical Thinking: Is The Disharmony ‘Out There’ A Reflection Of The Disharmony That Is Taking Place Internally?
When it comes to what is currently taking place in the world, it is clear that it is not a very harmonious time. Due to the measures that have been put in place, irrespective of if they are the right ones, the world has been totally disrupted.
If it was said that the world would be thrown into complete disarray a few years ago, it probably would have been seen as something that would take place as a result of climate change. This would be seen as a consequence of what the experts have been saying about the climate for years and, according to these people, the planet has been expected to fall apart for decades.
A Different Response
Alternatively, this could be seen as something that would take place as a result of a terrorist attack or a number of terror attacks. But, if these two things were not mentioned, what could be mentioned is another world war.
Either way, unless someone had looked into the likelihood of an outbreak or even looked towards the alternative media for insights on what was to come, it is unlikely that what is taking place would have entered their mind. And, although normal life has already been greatly disrupted, there is a strong chance that this is just the beginning of what could go on for a very long time.
All at Sea
What this is likely to mean is that the world won’t be returning to how it was before for quite some time. There is, of course, a very strong chance that the world will never be the same again.
This is going to be the last thing that a lot of people will want to hear, especially if their inner world is not in a good way. So, if someone’s inner world was not in a good way before, it could be even worse now.
What has been taking place externally, then, has had a big effect on a lot of people’s inner world. This is a clear example of how what is taking place externally has an impact on what is taking place internally.
It would be easy to see this as being very one-sided and, thus, to see human beings as mere victims of what is taking place around them. However, what if the disharmony that is taking place externally is a reflection of the disharmony that is taking place externally?
This would mean that the external world has an effect on people’s inner world and that their inner world has an effect on the outer world. The former is something that is widely spoken about, while the latter is rarely spoken about.
If the latter is spoken about, it is usually something that is mentioned in the world of self-development. Here, someone can often be told that they are in control of how they feel and that they shouldn’t let what is going on externally affect them.
One Step Further
Also, one can be told that if their outer world is full of conflict it is because their inner world is full of conflict. Ergo, in order for their outer world to change, they will need to resolve the conflict that is taking place internally so that their outer world can change.
Taking this into account, if this is what takes place at an individual level, what happens if millions, if not billions, of people are not at peace internally? Is there not the chance that what is taking place internally for each person will combine and end up creating a lot of conflict externally?
The Big Illusion
This could be seen as a ridiculous assertion, that’s if someone sees themselves as separate from what is going on ‘out there’ and from their fellow human beings. Even if their inner world wasn’t harmonious, it still wouldn’t affect the external world or merge with what is going on for others and be more impactful.
If someone does respond in this way, it is likely to show that they are strongly identified with their ego-mind. This is the part of them that sees itself as separate, something that allows them to have their own experience on this earth.
One Big Pool
If this sense of separation is an illusion and they are not separate from anyone or anything, it means that not only is their inner world impacting their outer world, it also means that they, along with their fellow human beings, are co-creating what is going on ‘out there’. This doesn’t mean that this co-creation is purely a consequence of what is taking place at a conscious level, though.
What will also play a big part here is what is taking place in each person’s unconscious mind. This is an area of someone’s being that can carry a lot of baggage, baggage that relates to what they have experienced in this life, what has been passed down from their ancestors and what they experienced in other lives.
In today’s world, what is going on internally is largely overlooked and the primary focus is on dealing with what is going on externally. This means that there is bound to be a lot of junk held in the collective unconscious and this junk ends up manifesting external situations, circumstances and events that mirror back what is held within this part of humanity that can’t be seen by the naked eye.
The trouble is that as this is not something that is widely understood, it seems as though humanity is endlessly being victimised by someone or something ‘out there’. A natural outcome of this is to live in fear and to resist what is going on externally, which ends up sustaining the very reality that is not wanted.
Ultimately, what is going on externally at this point in time didn’t take place overnight; it has taken many, many years to materialise. Likewise, the baggage that is held within each person’s being didn’t build up overnight; it most likely took many lifetimes to accumulate.
Considering this, if someone wants to do something about the disharmony that is ‘out there’, one of the best things that they can do is to deal with their own inner disharmony. This will take courage and the ability to be patient and persistent.
