Death: Can Someone Have An Irrational Fear Of Death If They Experienced Developmental Trauma?11/2/2022
If someone was to step back and reflect on how they experience life, what they may find is that they experience a fair amount of anxiety. Along with this, they could often experience panic and even have panic attacks from time to time.
At other times, they could be overwhelmed with fear and terror. What this will illustrate is that they will rarely if ever be in a good way mentally and emotionally, and this is going to mean that it will be normal for them to suffer. Two Parts Now, in addition to what is going on for them at a mental and emotional level, there is also likely to be what is going on for them at a physical level. They could often experience pain in their chest and have heart palpitations, their stomach could often hurt, they could feel dizzy at times, and they could sweat a lot. Taking this into account, when they are not feeling at ease and are not in a good way internally, it is going to be very hard for them to handle what is going on. In fact, they could feel as though they are going to die. A Painful Existence There is the chance that they will feel as though their life is about to come to an end at least once a day, while there could be days when this takes place on more than one occasion. Therefore, to say that they will live a stressful life will be an understatement. Still, this is not to say that the average person would realise this, though, as, from the outside, they could appear to live a fairly stress-free life. This is because they might not have a job that is stressful or live in an environment that has a lot of stimulation, for instance. The Norm If they were to look back on their life, they could find that they have been this way for as long as they can remember. So, before they were consciously aware of what was going on, this is likely to have been seen as something that was simply part of life. But, although they will now be aware of what is going on, it doesn’t mean that they believe that they can do anything about what is going on. As far they are concerned, this could just be how their life will always be. Drawing the Line If they were to reach out for support, they could end up being told that they have an irrational fear of death. This could show that they have opened up to a friend or have been referred to a cognitive behavioural therapist. If they are working with the latter, they could also be told that they are experiencing life in this way due to what is taking place in their mind. For their life to change, then, they will need to change their ‘negative’ thought patterns, their behaviour and perhaps to change how they breathe. All about the Mind By taking this approach, they may find that their life gradually changes, with them being able to experience more inner peace. Thanks to this, they will still know that they will die at one point in time but it will no longer be something that consumes their life. This will allow them to be more present and embrace life, which will mean that their time on this planet will be far more enjoyable. They could soon feel incredibly grateful that their life is finally changing for the better. Another Outcome At the same time, they could find that this approach doesn’t last or that it doesn’t work. If they have fully accepted the view that it is all about their mind, they could continue with this approach. It could be as though they have two options: either they do the same thing until it works or they go back to how they were before. However, for their life to truly change, it might be necessary for them to try another approach. Going Deeper The reason for this is that what is going for them could be an effect of what is taking place at a deeper level. If this is the case, what takes place in their conscious mind, along with how their body responds when they feel as if their life is going to come to an end and they have no control will be an effect of what is taking place in their unconscious mind. When it comes to what is taking place at this level of their being, it will relate to what they have experienced in the past. If they are unable to see how what is taking place for them as an adult is connected to what happened in their past, it could show that their brain has blocked out what took place in order to protect them. Back In Time Furthermore, it could have taken place at such a young age that they are simply unable to remember what happened. This could show that when they were an infant and then a toddler, they were often neglected and when they did receive attention, it was largely misattuned care. When they were left at this stage of their life, they wouldn’t have been able to do anything about what was going on. They would have felt totally helpless and powerless and it would have been as though their life was going to come to an end. Too Much Their underdeveloped brain and nervous system wouldn’t have been able to handle what was going on. When they were left, they would have been overloaded with fear and terror and death would have seemed certain. Their only option was to repress how they felt and disconnect from themselves, and to go into a shut down, frozen state. This would have meant that their inner experience would have been pushed out of their awareness but it wouldn’t have been resolved. Stuck In Time Many, many years will have passed since this stage of their life but their being will still feel as though death is imminent and they will feel incapable of doing anything about it. For them to know, at the core of their being, that this stage is over, they will need to work through the arousal and the emotional wounds that their brain and body are carrying. There are likely to be many layers of pain inside them, which is why this won’t take place overnight. This is a process that will take endless patience and persistence. Awareness If someone can relate to this and they are ready to change their life, they may need to reach out for external support. This is something that can be provided with the assistance of a therapist or healer.
