If one wanted to find out about what their friends have been doing, there is a strong chance that they will use social media. The primary reason for this is that it is likely to be the easiest option.
And when one goes online, they might only need to scroll down their news feed to get an idea of how their friends have been spending their time. Alternatively, one could call their friend or use their phone to send them a message, and they could even end up meeting them in person. Time However, if they were to choose one of the options above, it would end up taking them a lot longer. And while they could have plenty of time on their hands, this might not be the case. Also, when one goes on social media, they don’t someone else to answer their phone, reply to their message, or to meet them in person, the only thing they need to do is to go online and to see what has been taking place. A Few People Now, this is not to say that everyone they know will be on social media, as there could be a few people they who don’t use it. In this case, one will need to get in touch with them the old fashioned way. But due to how popular social media is, one is likely to find it is possible for them to stay in touch with most people through using it. And as long as they have some kind off device, they can stay up to date with what their friends are doing no matter where they are on the planet. Multitasking And because of this, one can also go online whilst they are doing others things, and this means that it doesn’t matter how busy they are. Another way of looking at this would be to say that one can multitask. For example, one could be at working and during this time, they can quickly see what their friends have been sharing. Once they have done this, they can carry on with what they are doing. Busy Thus, no matter how busy one is, they should be able to see what their friends are doing. Along with this, one will have the chance to let their friends know that they are paying attention to what they are doing. This is something that can take place through one ‘liking’ what their friends have shared, or they can leave a comment. One could also go one step further and send them a private message. The Reason When it comes to what approach they take, it can all depend on what it is that a friend has shared. For instance, if they were to come across a picture, they could end up ‘liking’ it, but if they came across something more personal, they might send them a message. One could also look through a friends profile in order to see what they have been doing, and if they haven’t shared anything for while, they could leave a comment on their wall. It could be said that sending someone a message would be more personal. At A Distance Having said that, if one only wants to find out what they have been doing, it might not matter if they write on their wall. This could also be a sign that one doesn’t know them very well, and so it can be easier for them to take this approach. But if one does know them, this could mean that they still want to keep their distance, and if they were to message them, they could believe that they will end up getting too close to them. There could be a number of reasons why they have this outlook, and one could also find that while they are happy to message someone, they have no interest in meeting them in the real world. Friends This shows that even though one can be ‘friends’ with someone online, it doesn’t mean that they see them as a real friend. And the same could be said for some of the people who one sees as their friends online. If they were to go through their friends list and to make a note of the people that they would call upon if they needed help, they may find that there is only a few people who they could count on. So while one can be in a position where they could have hundreds or even thousands of ‘friends’, this is likely to be nothing more than an illusion. Another Illusion And while can believe that they can stay up to date with what their friends are doing through using social media, this is not always going to be possible. The reason for this is that not everyone shares what they have been doing online, and even if they do, it doesn’t mean that it matches up with reality. This is because it is easy for someone to create a false life online, and unless one is aware of what has been taking place in their life, they could end up being fooled. Yet even if someone doesn’t create a false life, it doesn’t mean that the life they share online always matches up with the life they lead offline. Conclusion If one wanted a rough idea of what their friends have been doing, it might be a good idea for them to use social media. But if one wanted to find out what their friends have actually been doing, it might better for them to send them a message, or they could call them up and then meet them in person.
